Senior Game Designer

The Senior Game Designer will work with directors to help define the creative vision and establish reliable methodology and good practices for your team. Tune and balance gameplay systems based on internal and external playtesting and real-world data.

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Directors to define the creative vision and targets for the game
  • Design gameplay systems that support the vision and pillars of the game
  • Design and balance gameplay mechanics, tune characters’ control
  • Oversee level design on assigned project, consult with engineers to ensure features can achieve KPI targets
  • Tune and balance gameplay systems based on internal and external playtesting and real-world data
  • Research current games and understand what makes them a success or failure
  • Motivate and inspire the team to drive new ideas and projects from initial design to final production
  • Be a proactive member of the Design team, brainstorming and developing designs, and providing feedback to other designers
  • Work with all disciplines to ensure that the game features meet specifications and Boss Fight’s high- quality bar
  • In partnership with the Design and Development teams create new content and features that drive player engagement
  • Write descriptive documents that effectively communicate game systems and features to the team, update and help maintain shared library
  • Support project Lead. In their absence, fill in as needed for project meetings. Disseminate information and updates as appropriate and necessary
  • Exemplify reliability, accountability, and professionalism in all work-related interactions
  • Lead by example, creating a strong sense of purpose and community, and promoting a culture of
  • Maintain communication with peers across all departments, keep the team updated

 

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple, competing tasks and be self-directed to meet responsibilities in a quickly evolving environment with little direction
  • Positive attitude and ability to receive and provide objective and constructive feedback
  • Capable of working independently and in team environments
  • Capable of creative, imaginative, original, and abstract thought and ideas

 

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or an associate degree with comparable work experience
  • 5 years of game design experience, at least 2 years in a Sr. Designer capacity, 3 of those years with free to play mobile strategy or RPG games
  • At least one previous title where you were solely responsible for balancing content/systems
  • Thorough understanding of game-based economies, game balance and meta infrastructures
  • Experience with a live game
