Brand Art Director

The Brand Art Director is responsible for the marketing art direction for our studio and game brands. You will work with internal and external stakeholders to create and maintain the look and feel of our game IP, producing top-quality visual assets and campaigns when needed. You will create/maintain art bibles, style guides and gold standards across products. Partner with internal teams to support the visual and artistic development across multiple licensed and original titles; help all our games provide interactive and immersive experiences that help extend the narrative of the game for fans around the world.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Create top notch marketing assets and campaigns following IP specific brand and in-game style guidelines that resonate with target audience, for use across multiple marketing channels
  • Drive and oversee the development and maintenance of brand and visual identity of the studio and our games across multiple media outlets
  • Supervise, train, mentor, motivate and support the development of Marketing Artists
  • Coach team members to their optimum performance levels, and partner with Studio Art Director to ensure the team receives regular reviews
  • Manage performance within the team in a way that encourages autonomy, mastery, and purpose
  • Drive established best practices for the Marketing Art team
  • Lead the marketing art direction and be the ‘gatekeeper’ for all our marketing materials
  • Manage the full cycle marketing art production process
  • Develop style guides and presentations for all IP; design and develop internal creative collateral for franchise business development and brand guidelines
  • Partner with team to organize, update, and maintain shared library
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to coordinate production and delivery of marketing materials as well as communicate goals, priorities, and individual project progress
  • Analyze competing products and make recommendations to leadership to enhance marketing artwork
  • Review game art and marketing materials and submission ensuring content is on brand and high- quality
  • Proactively track trends in design, marketing strategies, and social media, make recommendations to enhance marketing artwork as necessary
  • Own deliverables and initiatives with acute attention to craft and detail
  • Respond to creative and quality issues; identify achievable solutions delivering brand quality while meeting gameplay and production needs
  • Deliver constructive and detailed paint-overs direction and feedback
  • Exemplify reliability, accountability, and professionalism in all work-related interactions
  • Lead by example, creating a strong sense of purpose and community, and promoting a culture of excellence


Skills and Abilities

  • Great eye and technical proficiency for creating polished pieces of art
  • Exceptional mentoring and supervisory skills and abilities  
  • Ability to create and work with a variety of art styles
  • Proficient in Adobe Suite, and PowerPoint
  • Able to manage multiple, competing tasks and be self-directed in a quickly evolving environment to meet deadlines
  • Comfortable interacting and presenting to all levels of the company, especially key stakeholders, and publishers
  • Ability to give detailed feedback and communicate direction between internal teams and external partners
  • Excellent organization and attention to detail


Education and Experience

  • 5 years’ experience creating marketing art in a related role
  • 5 years’ experience working with branded licensed IP as well as original content in games or related industry
  • Experience using Maya or 3DS Max
  • Experience working in game engines, Unity strongly desired
  • Experience with game development including 2D and 3D art creation processes and associated technology requirements, advancements, trade-offs, and challenges
  • Good understanding of visual and stylistic trends in games and other media
