Sr. Animator - Allen
Boss Fight Entertainment is seeking a Sr. Animator to help breathe life into the some of the mobile industry’s most lovable characters. Do you enjoy building and animating characters? Do you judge the placement of every joint and worry about the value of every skin weight? Are you adept at anticipation and skillful at squash and stretch? If so we'd love to hear from you! The Sr. Animator will balance both technical and creative needs to support the team’s goals of creating amazing animations, art, and gameplay. Ensure an efficient pipeline and support the efforts of all development beyond just animation.
Apply the necessary animation techniques to create loop-cycles, in-game animations, and cinematic sequences based on the animation requirements, style direction and feedback.
Implement animations into the project’s engine with full ownership of your work
Work with other departments as necessary to complete tasks, ensuring art supports a gameplay-first player experience
Create Animations that serve as a benchmark and inspire others
Take animations from conceptualization to shipping without direction if necessary.
Support Art Director and Lead Animator in executing on visual direction for animations
Foster and maintain effective relationships inside and outside the art department
Come up with innovative ways to solve problems quickly to unblock other teams
Make Animations optimized for performance as well as quality
Debug and troubleshoot gameplay animation issues, clean-up motion capture data or improve existing animation
Take on additional responsibilities on a project need basis
Continue building your skills, learning new software, industry trends and traditional art
Required Skills and abilities:
Exceptional technical and creative problem-solving skills
A solid grasp of the principles of body movement, anticipation, overshoot, follow-through, squash and stretch, forward and inverse kinematics, and other facets of both 2D and 3D animation
Exceptional skill in animating the human bipedal figure as well as other organic forms
Able to handle multiple projects at the same time with excellent attention to detail
a high-level understanding of industry standards, conventions, formats and common practice in pipeline, process, tools and techniques
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of personalities, both written and verbal
Solid work ethic and a positive attitude in a deadline focused environment
Familiarity with, Maya scripting including Mel scripts, Python, PyMel and/or the Maya API as well as Unity and C# scripting
Experience setting up Animation Blend Trees in real-time game engines
Preferred/Required Education and Experience
Have a balanced mix of visual aesthetic and tech-art/programming skills
College degree and/or some college courses, preferably in the visual arts and/or computer sciences
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a mid to high level 3D artist (animating, rigging etc.)
Experience setting up/creating animation for real-time game engines
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Our core hours are 10am to 6:00pm, which means you should be available for meetings etc. during the time period. You will be required to work longer hours on occasion, especially during periods when staff is working late to meet tight deadlines etc.
No travel is expected for this position.
